Shirobako Episode 6 Streaming Suspended Due to Rights Issue

posted on by Egan Loo
Niconico in Japan, Crunchyroll overseas removes episode listing

The Japanese streaming service Niconico announced that "streaming of Shirobako episode 6 has been temporarily suspended due to circumstances regarding rights." It added that the return date of the streaming has not been determined, but the service will announce it as soon as it is confirmed. Niconico apologized for the inconvenience to its viewers.

Crunchyroll is also streaming this television anime in the Americas and several countries in Europe as well as other regions, and it also no longer lists episode 6 "Idepon Miyamori: On the Move." (Crunchyroll was streaming the episode as recently as Sunday.) Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for North American release.

The episode's story and original Japanese title ("Idepon Miyamori: Hatsudō-hen") includes many references to the Densetsu Kyojin Ideon television anime and its movie sequel The Ideon: Be Invoked (Densetsu Kyojin Ideon: Hatsudō-hen).

P.A. Works' original anime Shirobako follows five girls as they work to succeed in the anime industry in writing, production, and voice acting. Tsutomu Mizushima is directing the series, Ponkan8 designed original characters, and Kanami Sekiguchi adapted them for the anime series. Michiko Yokote is overseeing the series scripts.

The series premiered on October 9, and episode 6 debuted on November 13. Niconico began streaming the episode on November 17.
