Attack on Titan Real Escape Game Heads to 3 U.S. Cities

S.F., L.A., NYC to host interactive, outdoors "Escape From the Walled City"

The January issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) Real Escape, an immersive, interactive game played in real outdoors settings, is heading overseas to San Francisco in February, Los Angeles in March, and New York City in April.

As in other Real Escape Games, players have to cooperate to solve puzzles to get items and passwords that they need to escape. The scenario has players act as trainees hoping to join the Survey Corps. The graduation event is interrupted when Titans attack and break into the citadel, and players have one hour to find the escape route.

The Attack on Titan Real Escape game already travelled to Yokohama, Osaka, Toyota, Sapporo, Sendai, Fukuoka, Saitama, Tokyo, and Okinawa in Japan. Less than 10% of 1,600 players "escaped" the first game. Even the anime's voice cast participated in the game.

After completing its run in Japan, the game will then head to Singapore's Yio Chu Kang Stadium from December 13 to 14. The organizers describe the Singapore version:

The Titans are spotted to be on their way to Singapore shore!! They have managed to break through our high walls of defence, and we need to escape from these human devouring titans!!   You are now officially part of the Survey Corp!   The fate of mankind lies in your hands! ONE HOUR LEFT TO ESCAPE FROM THIS DESPAIR!

Past anime-inspired Real Escape Games have included an Evangelion game in San Francisco and a Detective Conan game in Takamatsu city.
