Shouta Aoi to Join Ace of Diamond Anime Cast

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The official Twitter account for the Ace of Diamond anime series announced on Tuesday that voice actor Shouta Aoi will join the cast as Seidou High School freshman pitcher Hideaki Tōjō.

Aoi has also appeared in Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000% as Ai Mikaze, in Shōnen Hollywood - Holly Stage for 49 as Daiki Tomii, and in Kono Danshi, Sekika ni Nayandemasu as Ayumu Tamari.

The story of the original manga follows Eijun Sawamura (Ryota Ohsaka), a pitcher who joins an elite school with a brilliant catcher named Kazuya Miyuki (Takahiro Sakurai). Together with the rest of the team, they strive for Japan's storied Kōshien championships through hard work and determination. The anime also stars Hiro Shimono as Norifumi Kawakami, Hiroki Touchi as Tesshin Kataoka, Masakazu Morita as Kōchirō Tanba, Nobuyuki Hiyama as Kyokuni Azuma, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Shinji Kanemaru, Yumi Uchiyama as Rei Takashima.

Madhouse and Production I.G are producing the series. Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Blade, Kobato.) is directing, and Kenji Konuta (Library War, Blood Lad) is handling the series composition.

The anime premiered in Japan in October 2013, and Crunchyroll is streaming it in various countries as it airs. The anime was listed as having 52 episodes, but it has been extended until March 2015.

Terajima launched the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2006, and Kodansha published the 44th volume in September. The manga won the shōnen category of the 34th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2010.
