A Certain Magical Index Author's Multi-Series Crossover Gets Manga

The February issue of Square Enix's Shonen Gangan magazine is announcing on Saturday that the multi-franchise crossover story by A Certain Magical Index author Kazuma Kamachi is inspiring a manga series. The Toaru Majutsu no Heavy na Zashiki Warashi ga Kantan na Satsujin-ki no Konkatsu Jijō (The Circumstance Leading to a Simple Killer Princess's Marriage Was A Certain Magical Heavy Zashiki Warashi) manga adaptation will launch in the next issue in February.

Ryū Nishino is credited with the structure of the "all-star" story, and Hajime Fusemachi is drawing the manga. The various novel series' illustrators are credited with the original character designs.

The manga will feature Waltraute from Waltraute-san no Konkatsu Jijō (The Circumstances Leading to Waltraute's Marriage), Satsuki from Satsujin-ki to Deep End (The Killer Princess and the Deep End), Bunny Girl from Kantan na Monitor Desu (It Is a Simple Monitor), Zashiki Warashi from Intelle Village no Zashiki Warashi (The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village), Milinda from Heavy Object, and Tōma Kamijo from A Certain Magical Index.

The original text story is part of the 10th anniversary celebration of Kamachi's career. It is running this winter in Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko Magazine spinoff Kamachi Kazuma Box. It spawned a bonus pamphlet of crossover illustrations in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in November, as well as a crossover anime promotional video in September:

Accelerator: It's time we settle the score!!
Tōma: Accelerator! ...Hello … What'd you say!?
Index: Ready to eat! ...Oh, yes, this is Index. What!?
Mikoto: What are you doing!? ...Hm? ...HUH!?
Boy: Princess, what's the situation at your side?
Princess: I'll be able to annihilate the enemies, soon.
Commander: In the object-to-object battle, you are in the way.
Index: This is big, really big!
Who the hell are you?
Girl: Brother, you were called upon, weren't you?
Boy: It looks like we were too late, though.

The video assembles characters from not only A Certain Magical Index, but also other works by Kamachi such as Heavy Object, Intelle Village no Zashiki Warashi (The Zashiki Warashi of Intellectual Village), and Waltraute-san no Konkatsu Jijō (The Circumstances Leading to Waltraute's Marriage). The video is the 9th of 10 projects in the ongoing 10th anniversary celebration. The 10th project is the television anime of Heavy Object:

Text: In the end, war did not end.
Even in an age when the people of Earth had improved techology so much that they could build a colony on the surface of the moon, the chasms between people's hearts did not heal.
However, there was a change.
There was even a change in those who became obsessed with constant killing
The use of soldiers became a thing of the past, and the fight to steal each other's lands are decided by "Green Wars."
The synonym for war in that kind of a world...
Its name is...
Heivia: They said it's a full battle, but there's not a single soldier. Are they not going to give us the freebie of playing music loud or anything?
Quenser: Heivia. You just got told that the penalty for ignoring orders is getting your lunch cut in size. Just shut up.
Heivia: Hmph! You're still the same hard-headed frontline soldier, huh? Hm? Hey! Didn't something move out over there?
Quenser: The Alaska battlegrounds... If we're talking about here, then it must be...
Heivia & Quenser: A WILD DEER! Let's kill it, cook it, and eat it!!
Commander: Hey kids. You sure have guts ignoring your post to chit-chat.
Heivia & Quenser: Huh!?
Commander: Looks like she's here.
Milinda: Yahoo. I've finally arrived at the battlefield I've always loved.
Heivia & Quenser: Heavy Object

The other projects in the celebration include congratulatory sketches and messages from Kamachi's colleagues, A Certain Magical Index illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura's second art book rainbow spectrum:notes, Kamachi's new light novel series Mitō Shōkan://Blood Sign, a 10th anniversary figure of Misaki Shokuhō, a 10th anniversary version of Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji Kazuma Kamachi lineup, and a special collaboration between the soccer team Tokyo Verdy and A Certain Magical Index.
