Hakuoki Stage Musical Photos Unveiled

Show ran in Kyoto this past weekend; will run in Tokyo, ship on DVD

Japanese anime news source Animate.tv unveiled photos from the Hakuōki stage musical, which ran in Kyoto January 10-12. The musical will open in Tokyo from January 17-25, and a DVD of the performance will ship in Japan on May 22.


Nobihiro Mōri is directing the musical and Toshihiko Sahashi is composing the music, and the cast includes:

Idea Factory's Hakuōki Shinsengumi Kitan romance adventure game from Otomate, Idea Factory's brand aimed at female players, shipped in Japan for the PS3 in 2010, and was released in North America in May.

The story of the game and its anime adaptation center around the historical Shinsengumi samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century.

The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku, and the 6-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OAV series. The franchise also includes a prequel television anime series and two films that premiered in 2013. Sentai Filmworks licensed the franchise in 2013.
