Blood Lad and Kamisama Dolls Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Also, Blu-ray-only edition of Perfect Blue

On Monday February 2, Anime Limited will release Blood Lad on both Blu-ray and DVD. The comedy anime adapts Yuki Kodama's manga that follows a vampire named Staz who has his figurative heart stolen by Fuyumi, a human high school girl who suddenly appears in his world. Unfortunately, she is just as suddenly killed, and thus she becomes a ghost. Staz tries to bring Fuyumi back to life.

Shigeyuki Miya (Lupin III: Green vs Red, Buzzer Beater) directed the anime at Brains Base from scripts by Kenji Konuta (Library War, Toshokan Sensō: Kakumei no Tsubasa), and Kenji Fujisaki (chief animation director on Battle Girls - Time Paradox) created character designs. May'n (Macross Frontier) sings the anime's "ViViD" opening theme, while Yuuka Nanri (.hack//Roots) performs the ending theme "BLOODY HOLIC."

MVM will release the series Kamisama Dolls. The 13-part supernatural anime is based on Hajime Yamamura's manga. Kyouhei Kuga is a young man who has left his small hometown to escape from its anachronistic rules and traditions. He wants to try a new life in Tokyo as a simple university student. In the past he was a seki, title given to individuals who are able to control the mysterious kakashis. Considered as gods in the small Karakami village, the kakashi are ancient wooden wonders able to perform incredible feats. The escape of a seki from the town brings other seki to town.

Anime Limited is also releasing a Blu-ray only edition of the 1997 psycho-thriller film Perfect Blue, directed by Satoshi Kon. (The previous combi pack is now sold out; the DVD-only edition is still available.)
