Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Launch Trailer Streamed

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Console release slated for February 17, Steam release delayed until March 30

Koei Tecmo America began streaming the launch trailer for its Dead or Alive 5: Last Round console and PC fighting game on Wednesday. The video introduces brand new characters Honoka and Raidou as well as Phase-4, Marie Rose, and Nyotengu.

Koei Tecmo describes Raidou, the "regeneration of brutality" :

After being killed by an explosion during the First Dead or Alive Tournament, Raidou was pieced back together, outfitted with cybernetic parts, and brought back to life by Donovan. As a side effect he has lost all memories of his past, and retains only his natural lust for power.

Raidou's fighting style is Mugen Tenshin Ninjutsu at its core, but he builds upon this with techniques he has stolen from various fighters. Unlike fellow Mugen Tenshin Ninjutsu practitioners Kasumi and Hayate, he favors moves that make the most of his size and power. He has also developed some techniques of his own, such as Tengeki-Gorai-Sho and Rekku-Jinraisatsu.

The game is slated for February 17 in North America, February 19 in Japan, and February 20 in Europe. Koei Tecmo will release the game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 followed by a PC release via Steam on March 30.

The Steam release was delayed to ensure the "best experience possible." Players who purchase the game through Steam will get the Halloween 2013 costume set for free.

The game's roster includes 34 characters so far, including guest characters from the Virtua Fighter series. The game will offer over 300 open and unlockable costumes, and the brand new hairstyle and accessory options. Downloadable content from Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will transfer over.
