Girl Friend (♪ ※ ) is slated for this year

Cyber Agent announced a new 3D rhythm game for its Girlfriend (Kari) (Girl Friend BETA) franchise at the "Japan Broadcast LIVE EXPO TOKYO 2015 Music and Comic+ presents Anime Red and White Song Battle vol.4" event last month. The game, titled Girl Friend (♪ ※ ) (read as "onpu"), is slated for this year.

The event unveiled a new character song for Erena Mochizuki, performed by her voice acress Hitomi Harada. Haruka Tomatsu (the voice of Nonoka Sasahara), Aki Toyosaki (Raimu Nejikawa), Ayahi Takagaki (Tsugumi Harumiya), and Minako Kotobuki (Saya Kagurazaka) also performed as members of the idol group Sphere. Ayana Taketatsu (Ichigo Kohinata) performed solo.

The event is based on the New Year's Eve Red and White Song Battle (Kōhaku Uta Gassen), the most-viewed music television program in Japan. At the event, the male singers (white team) compete against the female singers (red team) in a series of performances.

Cyber Agent's blogging website Ameba started service for the original Girl Friend BETA dating simulation game for smartphones in 2012. As of 2014, the number of registered users has passed four million. The game features over one hundred girls for the player to date, each voiced by a different voice actress.

The anime adaptation premiered in October and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
