Blue Encount, Negoto Perform New Gintama TV Anime's Songs

New series to premiere on April 8

This year's 13th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the bands Blue Encount and Negoto will perform the theme songs for the new Gintama television anime series. Blue Encount will perform the opening theme "Day x Day," while Negoto will performing the closing theme "Destiny."

The magazine is also announcing that the new series will premiere on April 8 and run every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on TV Tokyo and its affiliates.

Blue Encount hails from Kumamoto Prefecture, although they are now in Tokyo. The four-member "emotional guitar rock band" made their debut on a major label last September, and they released the first single, "Motto Hikari o" in January.

Negoto is an all-girl "new generation" alternative rock band whose four members were born in the Heisei era (after 1989). They already performed theme songs for After School Midnighters, Galilei Donna, and Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. They will release their album Vision in March, and then embark on their first nationwide tour as the headliners.

Hideaki Sorachi's original Gintama action comedy manga inspired a television anime that premiered in 2006 and continued (with several extended hiatuses) until 2013. It also inspired two movies, including the "final" Gekijōban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare film that opened in 2013.

Last year's Jump Special Anime Festa event tour debuted a one-episode Gintama' special in November. That special is shipping on a DVD with the 58th manga volume on April 3, 2015.
