Sega announced on Friday that a play adapting its original Ryū ga Gotoku (Yakuza) video game has been green-lit. The play is being produced in celebration of the first game's tenth anniversary since its release.

The cast will star (seen clockwise) Eiji Takigawa as Kazuma Kiryu, Gaku Sano as Akira Nishikiyama, Ayane Sakurano as Yumi Sawamura, Yūma Ishigaki as Makoto Date, Shōhei Nanba as Kazuki, Tatsuo Nadaka as Shintarō Kazama, Shunsuke Kubozuka as Gorō Majima, Kazumasa Kōra as the Florist of Sai, and Kazuki Watanabe as Yuya.

Theater troupe Raynet is producing the play, and Sega is sponsoring it. Takahiro Tamura is directing, and is also penning the scripts with assistance from Takashi Itō. The play will premiere on April 24 at the Akasaka ACT Theater, and will run until the 29. S seats will cost 9,500 yen (about US$90), while A seats will cost 8,000 yen (about US$75).

The original Ryū ga Gotoku (lit. Like a Dragon) game shipped in Japan in 2005, and Sega released the game in North America under the title Yakuza the next year. The latest game, Ryū ga Gotoku 0: Chikai no Basho (Yakuza 0: The Place of Oath), will ship in Japan on March 12. Sega confirmed a North American release of Yakuza 5 in December. The game originally released in Japan in 2012.
