Shonen Jump's J-Stars Victory VS+ English Video Features Gintama, Assassination Classroom

Bandai Namco Entertainment's European division began streaming two English-subtitled trailers for its upcoming fighting game Shonen Jump's J-Stars Victory VS+ on Friday.

The first video features a battle between Gintama's Gintoki Sakata and Assassination Classroom's Koro-Sensei.

The second pits First of the North Star's Kenshirō against Sakigake!! Otoko Juku's Momotarō Tsurugi.

The site streamed a trailer earlier this week featuring a battle between Bleach's Ichigo Kurosaki and Aizen Sosuke.

The game is slated to ship in the Americas and Europe this summer. The PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita game will feature the original Japanese audio track with English subtitles. More than 50 characters from at least 32 titles appear in Shonen Jump's 45th anniversary game in Japan. The premise of the game is "J Battle Festival, a dream festival that happens once in 45 years" and assembles heroes who exemplify friendship, hard work, and victory.

In the spirit of friendship, the game supports 2 vs. 2 team battles in dream matches that cross the borders between titles. Players can unleash combination attacks never possible until now, some with the help of support characters.

Players can attain victory in several game modes. J Adventure Mode tells an original story set in the vast "Jump World." Players can assemble characters and embark on voyages throughout "Jump World" with a ship. Players can collect "J Points" for cards in battles and adventures as well as items in the J-Point Shop. They can then use the resulting J-Stars Card deck and points to level up their characters and ships.

There is also a Victory Road campaign, Free Battle, Online Mode for 2 vs. 2 battles, and a Gallery Mode with an illustrated guide to all the J-Stars along with their voice samples and fighting patterns.

Hironobu Kageyama, Akira Kushida, and Hiroshi Kitadani sang the game's theme song "Fighting Stars." The game includes stages from One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Toriko, Naruto Shippuden, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo, Gintama, Saint Seiya, and Dr. Slump & Arale-chan.

The PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game arrived in Japan last March. A regular copy of the PS3 version retails for 7,980 yen (about US$80), while a limited edition costs 10,980 yen (about US$110). The normal edition of the PS Vita version costs 6,980 yen, while a limited edition copy retails for 9,980 yen (about US$100). A free augmented-reality (AR) app lets you see the Jump heroes in your surroundings on the PS Vita.

People who pre-ordered the game in Japan received the J-Stars Victory Book, a volume bound like a Jump Comics book and filled with information and visuals of Jump heroes over the years. For a limited time, a "Ani-Son Sound Edition" of the game lets players listen to 21 television anime theme songs in the game.
