Xenoblade X Intro Video Shows Off Gameplay, Customization

posted on by Karen Ressler
Game ships for Wii U on April 29

Nintendo began streaming an introduction video for Monolith Soft's upcoming Wii U game Xenoblade X. The video features gameplay and equipment, including the customizable "doll" robots.

In Xenoblade X (read as "Xenoblade Cross" in Japan), the player will join an organization called BLADE, where they must explore the world of Mira and search for "Life Points," or lost pods that contain cryogenically frozen humans, lost when humanity landed on Mira.

The player will also be able to take on quests to find items and defeat monsters for the citizens of the base town, NLA. Helping the citizens will deepen the player's bond with them, which in turn can help the player form bonds with other citizens. The game will support online multiplayer for up to four players, but up to 32 players will be able to exchange information.

The game is slated to ship in Japan on April 29. Nintendo also announced that the game is now available for early download in Japan. The download will playable at midnight on the launch day.

Nintendo will offer a physical version bundled with a Wii U. This "Wii U Xenoblade X Set" will retail for 35,000 yen (about US$294) and also include an art book, map, and Nintendo pre-paid card for 1,000 yen with an original design.

Nintendo released the original Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii in Japan in 2010, Europe in 2011, and North America in 2012. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the New Nintendo 3DS is slated for April 2 in Europe and April 10 in North America.
