Taifū no Noruda Anime Film's Short Trailer Streamed

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Studio Colorido film to open for 3-week limited screening in Japan on June 5

The official website for Studio Colorido's upcoming feature-length anime film Taifū no Noruda (Typhoon Noruda) began streaming a 15-second trailer for the film on Thursday. The trailer features the film's theme song "Arashi no Ato de" (After the Storm) by Galileo Galilei.

Saijō: Are you really quitting?
Azuma: Yeah, I've made up my mind.
Saijō: No matter how you look at it, it's dangerous!! Why are you trying to take this on all by yourself!?
Azuma: I want to save her! Saijō, give me a hand.

Studio Colorido's first full trailer for the film revealed earlier this month that the film will screen alongside the short "Hinata no Aoshigure" by the same studio and Hiroyasu Ishida ("Fumiko's Confession").

The film takes place on a certain isolated island, at a certain middle school, on the eve of the culture festival. A boy quits baseball after playing his whole life, and has a fight with his best friend. Then they suddenly meet a mysterious, red-eyed girl named Noruda, and a huge typhoon hits the middle school.

The main cast includes:

Shūhei Nomura as Shūichi Azuma, a naive young boy. A long-time baseball player and a close friend to Saijō. Unable to be frank with himself.

Daichi Kaneko as Kenta Saijō, an honest boy with a strong sense of justice. His personality clashes strongly with Azuma's, but he sympathizes with him.

Kaya Kiyohara as Noruda, a girl from space harried by a cruel fate. Azuma helped her, and her heart begins to open.

The website also revealed a visual for the classmate and teacher characters:

Former Ghibli animator Yōjirō Arai is making his directorial debut on the film, though he previously served as animation director on short anime for Studio Colorido. Hiroyasu Ishida, who previously directed award-winning shorts such as "Fumiko's Confession" and "rain town," is designing the characters and serving as animation director. Masashi Hamauzu (Good Luck Girl!) is composing the music.

The rest of the staff includes:

Japanese rock band Galileo Galilei (anohana, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE openings) will perform the theme song "Arashi no Ato de" (After the Storm) for the movie.

The film will open in theaters in Japan for a three-week limited engagement beginning on June 5.
