The Drops of God Enters 'Final Arc' with New Manga

New series focuses on "marriage" between wine, food

This year's 26th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine began serialization on Thursday on Tadashi Agi and Shū Okimoto's Marriage: Kami no Shizuku Saishūshō (Marriage ~The Drops of God Final Arc~) manga.

The new manga serves as the final arc for The Drops of God manga. The theme of the final arc is the "marriage" between wine and food. The first chapter focuses on wine that pairs well with salt-fermented squid.

The duo had originally announced in May 2014 that The Drops of God would end in five more chapters. The last chapter had then revealed in June 2014 that the "final arc" of the manga would have its own series.

Vertical published part of the manga in North America. Throughout its serialization, the manga had famously boosted the sales of wines profiled in the story. The French wine magazine La Revue du vin de France has also recognized the manga, giving it the magazine's top award. The New York Times also profiled the manga in its Dining and Wine section in 2008.

A live-action Japanese series based on the series aired in 2009.

Okimoto and Agi also drew the two-volume Kaitō Le Vin (Le Vin, Wine Burglar) wine manga from October 2014 to February 2015. DeNA's MangaBox app published the manga in English.
