"Special surprise" teased at joint panel

The organizers of California's Anime Expo convention announced on Saturday that they will host a joint panel between Mega Man co-creator and comcept founder Keiji Inafune, and Studio 4°C founder Eiko Tanaka. The convention teases that the two creators "may have a special surprise for attendees," and both of them will also hold autograph sessions.

Inafune co-designed Capcom's Megaman (Rockman) character and worked as producer for many titles in the video game franchise. He worked at game developer Capcom for 23 years and contributed to more than 60 titles, including the Onimusha and Dead Rising games, before leaving in 2010. Inafune was also Global Head of Production, Head of Research and Development, and Head of Online Development at Capcom.

After leaving Capcom, Inafune founded the video game developer Comcept in 2010. The company raised more than US$3.8 million for its Mighty No. 9 side-scrolling game in a crowdfunding campaign in 2013. Inafune also worked on the Azure Striker Gunvolt game.

Tanaka worked as a line producer at Studio Ghibli on My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, before founding Studio 4°C in 1986. She has produced such films as Memories, Spriggan, Mind Game, Tekkonkinkreet, Genius Party, the Berserk film trilogy, and The Animatrix anthology. She and her studio will present the anime film of Project Itoh's Harmony novel in November.

Anime Expo will also host Studio Trigger's Hiroyuki Imaishi and Yoh Yoshinari (who will present Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade), Danganronpa game writer and designer Kazutaka Kodaka, rock band Wagakki Band, Vocaloid diva IA, voice actresses Tomoyo Kurosawa and Yumiri Hanamori, idol group Momoiro Clover Z along with members of American rock band KISS, manga artist Julietta Suzuki, Cannon Busters director LeSean Thomas, Satelight's Thomas Romain, light novel illustrator Luna Tsukigami, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni creator Ryukishi07, Guilty Gear game developer Daisuke Ishiwatari, Spice & Wolf light novel author Isuna Hasekura, director Naokatsu Tsuda at the English dub premiere of his JoJo's Bizarre Adventure television anime, Visual Art's/Key artist Itaru Hinoue, voice actress Ayako Kawasumi, and the staff of the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works television anime.

This year's Anime Expo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 2 to July 5.
