Eiga Sai Film Festival Shows Thermae Romae II, Princess Jellyfish, Parasyte Films in the Philippines

The Japan Foundation, Manila announced on Wednesday the films and documentaries that will screen at its Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival this year in the Philippines. The film festival will start on July 9, and will travel to multiple venues in the country until August 23. The festival will feature a theme of "Tasteful Japan."

The films and documentaries screening at the film festival include:

  • Our Family (Bokutachi no Kazoku)
  • Wood Job! (Wood Job Kamusari naa naa Nichijō)
  • Thermae Romae II
  • Parasyte (Kiseijū)
  • A Tale of Samurai Cooking: A True Love Story (Bushi no Kondate)
  • Princess Jellyfish (Kuragehime)
  • Tada's Do-It-All House: Disconcerto (Mahoro-eki mae Kyōsōkyoku)
  • It's a Beautiful Life - Irodori (Jinsei, Irodori)
  • Patisserie Coin de rue (Yōgashiten Coin de rue)
  • Wa-shoku ~Beyond Sushi~ (Washoku Dream)
  • The God of Ramen (Ramen Yori Taisetsuna Mono)

The festival will screen the films at the following venues:

  • Shang Cineplex Cinema 2, Mandaluyong, Metro Manila (July 9 to July 19)
  • FDCP Cinematheque, Davao City, Davao del Sur (July 14 to July 19)
  • Abreeza Mall Cinema, Davao City, Davao del Sur (July 24 to July 26)
  • University of the Philippines Film Institute, Quezon City, Metro Manila (August 12 to August 15)
  • Ayala Center Cinema 4, Cebu City, Cebu (August 19 to August 23)

All films will be shown with English subtitles.

The Japan Foundation, Manila provided the flyer for the film festival with detailed information on the screening time of each film at each venue.

The Great Passage and Our Family director Yūya Ishii will attend the film festival's opening night on July 9 at the Shang Cineplex. He will also hold a "Director's Talk" at the Lopez Center Studio, Ateneo de Manila University on July 10 at 3:00 p.m., and at the Shang Cineplex Cinema 2 on July 11 at 4:30 p.m.

The Japan Foundation, Manila holds the Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival every year in celebration of Philippines-Japan Friendship Month in July.
