"Spinout" game of The Fruit of Grisaia releasing on Thursday

Japanese game news site Gamer began streaming the opening movie for Prototype's PS Vita port of developer Frontwing's The Fruit of Grisaia spinoff PC visual novel Grisaia no Kajitsu Spinout!? Idol Mahō Shōjo Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru (Fruit of Grisaia Spinout?! Idol Magical Girl Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru). The video previews the game's opening theme song "Majick" by Hana.

Frontwing released the original PC version of the game in two parts in August and December 2014. Prototype's PS Vita version will bundle both parts in one package, and it will ship in Japan on Thursday for 4,300 yen (about US$35).

The spinoff game features a comical story with all the heroines from the Grisaia games playing completely different characters. Unlike the three main Grisaia games, the spinoff is a visual novel where the player doesn't make any choices. The visual novel features full voicing and background music.

The visual novel stars Michiru Matsushima (voiced by Kaori Mizuhashi), an idol who is unpopular and doesn't sell well. She dreams of becoming a top idol popular with both men and women while wearing with cute clothes and singing lovely songs. Instead, she hosts concerts every weekend at a dim basement jazz bar where few fans come and she cannot sell much merchandise.

One night Michiru is walking home alone and she sees a shooting star and wishes on it to become a top idol. However, what Michiru wishes on is not a shooting star but a cat familiar name Nyanmel (voiced by Kaori Nazuka) from a magical world. Nyanmel tells Michiru that in order to save her world she must become a magical girl.

The cast from the Grisaia anime adaptations reprise their roles. The game's cast includes:

Kaori Mizuhashi as Michiru
Kaori Nazuka as Nyanmeru
Erika Narumi as JB
Ryouko Tanaka as Yumiko
Ai Shimizu as Sachi
Tomoe Tamiyasu as Makina
Minaho Matsudaira as Yuuji
Akane Tomonaga as Kazuki
Hekiru Shiina as Tanatochu
Kei Mizusawa as Asako
Hiroko Taguchi as Amane

Akio Watanabe and Fumio designed the characters, while Sekijin Yamada handled the SD character designs. Yoshigatsu Kuwashima wrote the game's scenario. Composer U handled the game's music. Ryūichirō Yamakawa of Frontwing is credited as the game's producer. yo-yu created the game's opening movie.

Akio Watanabe also drew the storyboards of the transformation sequence in the game's opening, and also served as chief animation supervisor. Kei Ajiki and Yuuko Yamada both served as animation supervisors. 8 Bit is credited with production cooperation.

The PS Vita version will include high-resolution graphics at 960 x 544 pixels, color customization options, touchscreen availability, and full support for the PS Vita TV.

Sekai Project launched a Kickstarter campaign in December to release all three Grisaia games in the West on PC, and as part of its stretch goal, the company will release the PC version of Idol Mahō Shōjo Chiruchiru ☆ Michiru in both downloadable and physical forms.

Prototype previously ported The Fruit of Grisaia to both the PSP and PS Vita in 2013.

A television anime of the first game, The Fruit of Grisaia (Grisaia no Kajitsu/Le Fruit de la Grisaia), premiered last October. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for North America, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The Labyrinth of Grisaia and The Eden of Grisaia TV anime premiered in Japan in April. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan.
