Shion Sono's directs September 4 film of Kiminori Wakasugi's comedy manga

The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Kiminori Wakasugi's All Esper Dayo! (Minna! Esper Dayo!) science-fiction comedy manga began streaming the film's trailer on Thursday.

Shion Sono (Suicide Circle, Himizu, Tokyo Tribe), who also directed the live-action television series of the manga, is directing the film. The film once again stars Shōta Sometani (live-action xxxHOLiC, Parasyte) as Yoshirō "Yocchan" Kamogawa. Elaiza Ikeda plays the heroine Miyuki Hirano in the film.

Other returning cast members include: Erina Mano as Sae Asami, Mikan Sports as Terumitsu Nagano, Motoki Fukami as Yōsuke Enomoto, Reiya Masaki as Naoya Yabe, Ken Yasuda as Takahiro Asami, and Megumi Kagurazaka as Takako Akiyama.

The film will also feature original characters, including:

  • Maryjun Takahashi as AIKO Polnareff (pictured left in above image)
  • Ami Tomite as Akiko Kamitani (pictured top row at left)
  • Sahel Rosa as Julie Pabcock (pictured top row second from left)
  • Anna Konno as Mitsuko Mitsui (pictured top row second from right)
  • Mizuki Hoshina as Taeko (pictured top row at right)
  • Airi Shimizu as Shizuka (pictured bottom row at left)
  • Ai Shinozaki as Keiko (pictured bottom row center)
  • Rika Hoshina as Saya (pictured bottom row at right)

Yasuyuki Okamura will perform the film's theme song "Love Message."

The film will open in Japan on September 4.

The first live-action drama adaptation of the manga premiered in April 2013 as a series of 12-minute episodes. A live-action spinoff television special titled Minna! Esper Dayo! Bangaihen ~Esper, Miyako e Iku~ (All Esper Dayo! Extra Edition ~The Esper Goes to the Capital~) aired in Japan on April 3.

The psychic comedy follows an ordinary (virgin) high school boy named Yoshirō "Yocchan" Kamogawa (Sometani). His life changes overnight when he wakes up with the ability to read other people's minds. Yoshirō is not the only one to gain powers in his town. Terumitsu Nagano (played by Mikata Sports), an (apparently virgin) worker at a café near Yoshirō's school, gains telekinesis — but he uses it for sex toys. Yōsuke Enomoto (played by Motoki Fukami), a (probably virgin) senior and former basketball player at Yoshirō's high school, gains teleportation — but only while naked.

Wakasugi launched the manga in Weekly Young Magazine in 2009, shortly before he ended the popular comedy Detroit Metal City the following year. Kodansha published the sixth compiled volume of Minna! Esper Dayo! in February 2014. Wakasugi launched a new arc of the manga in Young Magazine this spring.
