Masaaki Yusasa sports series due in October

Anime Limited has announced on its website that it has acquired Masaaki Yuasa's anime series Ping Pong. The series will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in October (date TBC), including both the English dub and the Japanese version with subtitles.

Extras may differ depending on the format (DVD or Blu-ray), but will include episode commentaries and Japanese Box Set Commercials.

Previously, Funimation has described the series:

Smile and Peco. Peco and Smile. Besties from the beginning, both with a badass backhand. Peco is known for his arrogance on the table tennis court, and Smile for his silence. But with a new school year and a new high school table tennis team, both boys are in for a challenge, on--and off--the court.

Peco's slacker ways are hurting his game, and after getting crushed in a tournament, he decides to quit. Smile is finally learning to harness his natural talents, but can he squash his sympathy for his opponents enough to beat them

From the acclaimed director Masaaki Yuasa comes an innovative new series with stunning animation, memorable characters, and impressive footwork.

Ping Pong adapts Taiyo Matsumoto's manga of the same name. Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game, The Tatami Galaxy, Kick-Heart) directed the television anime at Tatsunoko Productions. Nobutake Ito designed the characters. kensuke ushio composed the soundtrack. Kunio Tsujita served as the color key artist, and Kevin Aymeric was the art director. The staff also includes Shunsuke Nakamura as director of photography, Kashiko Kimura as editor, and Eriko Kimura as sound director. The band merengue performed the series' ending theme.
