The official website for the upcoming Boruto -Naruto the Movie- anime film began streaming two television commercials for the film on Monday. The first commercial is titled "Parent and Child, Student and Teacher," and the second commercial is titled "Father." The commercials promote the "Naruto ga Hokage ni Natta Hi" (The Day Naruto Became a Hokage) manga short, and also preview the film's theme song "Diver" by KANA-BOON.

Naruto and Sasuke: Go, Boruto!
Text: From Naruto to Boruto...
Naruto: You take after me.
Sasuke: You have it in you to be a better man. Trust in your teacher.
Boruto: I'm not gonna lose!
Naruto and Sasuke: Boruto -Naruto the Movie-
Naruto: I've been a bad father. But it's because I am alive that I can watch over as you grow up.
Text: Thank you for treating me as a father.
Naruto: Go, Boruto.
Narrator: Boruto -Naruto the Movie-
Boruto: Dad!

The official website previously streamed a web commercial that teased the character Mitsuki's parentage last Wednesday.

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine gave a tagline for the film, "The curtain rises on the legend that will surpass all!!" The tagline in the visual above is, "Surpass the legend. Take the reins of the new era."

Weekly Shonen Jump describes the story of the new film as follows (Note: the below summary contains spoilers for those who have not finished reading the manga):

Boruto is the son of the seventh Hokage Naruto who completely rejects his father. Behind this, he has feelings of wanting to surpass Naruto, who is respected as a hero. He ends up meeting his father's friend Sasuke, and requests to become... his apprentice!? The curtain rises on the story of the new generation written by Masashi Kishimoto!

The previously revealed cast members include:

Yūko Sanpei is playing Boruto (pictured top left in image below) and Kokoro Kikuchi is playing Sarada (pictured top right). Junko Takeuchi is returning to play Naruto Uzumaki, and Noriaki Sugiyama is returning to play Sasuke Uchiha.

Weekly Shonen Jump also revealed that the film will feature the Chunin Exams with the new generation. Boruto's three-member squad, the new "InoShikaChō," and Genin from other villages will all participate.

Original Naruto manga creator Masashi Kishimoto is credited with the original story, script, and character designs, as well as the chief production supervisor, for the film. Hiroyuki Yamashita (Naruto Shippūden episode director, Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie animation director) is directing the film, and Ukyō Kodachi (Chaos Dragon, Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road) is collaborating with Kishimoto on the script.

The rock band KANA-BOON is contributing their "Diver" song as the theme song, after contributing their "Silhouette" single as the opening theme of the Naruto Shippūden television anime

The film will open in Japanese theaters on August 7, and tickets went on sale on June 27. Theatergoers will be able to choose one of two fans designed by Masashi Kishimoto as a special gift. The "Uzumaki Version" will feature Naruto and Boruto and the "Uchiha Version" will feature Sasuke and Sarada. The fans are limited to 100,000 units.

Those who watch Boruto -Naruto the Movie- in theaters throughout Japan in August will receive 2 million copies of an official book — one with a brand-new one-shot manga by original manga creator Masashi Kishimoto. The Naruto Hiden Zai no Sho Official Movie Book's title indicates that the book is a spinoff of the Naruto: The Official Character Data Book series.

The book will debut the manga short "Naruto ga Hokage ni Natta Hi" (The Day Naruto Became the Hokage) that Kishimoto personally drew. The story episode did not appear in the main Naruto manga's original run. The Comic Natalie website posted an excerpt on Monday. The book will also include the main manga series' 700th and final chapter in full color.

Viz Media has licensed the film for a North American release.
