posted on by Karen Ressler
Original TV anime slated for October 4; 1st episode already available in app

Bandai Visual began streaming a 15-second commercial for 8-Bit's original television anime Comet Lucifer on Monday. The video previews fhána's opening theme "~The Seed and the Sower~."

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 4 at 10:30 p.m. It will then start on the KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11 stations. Tokyo's TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku theater will host a preview screening of the first two episodes with cast members Yūsuke Kobayashi, Ayaka Ōhashi, and Ayaka Suwa on October 3. In addition, the anime's official smartphone app is previewing the entire first episode for free before the broadcast premiere from September 19 to October 3 — an industry first, according to the anime's staff. The download will be available to people who visit one of 30 anime shops in Japan.

The story takes place on the planet Gift, where precious crystals called Giftjium are buried in the earth. A young man named Sōgo lives in Garden Indigo, a prosperous mining town. Sōgo's hobby is to collect rare crystals. One day, he gets wrapped up in a riot caused by his classmates Kaon, Roman, and Otto, and he loses his way until he finds a lake deep under the ground's mining ruins. There, he meets a mysterious girl with blue hair and red eyes that gaze straight ahead. The story follows the adventure of what happens after this meeting.

The cast is as follows:

Yūsuke Kobayashi as Sōgo Amagi, an immature young man who lives in Garden Indigo. Both of his parents are dead, and he lives with Do Mon. His mother was a Giftjium researcher, and because of that he loves large crystals.

Ayaka Ōhashi as Felia, a mysterious young woman Sōgo meets in the lowest level of Garden Indigo

Rie Takahashi as Kaon Lanchester, a cheerful, lively, and refreshing young woman who is Sōgo's classmate. Her parents are famous merchants.

Takuma Terashima as Roman Valoff, a young man in the same grade as Sōgo and the heir to the Valoff family, who rule Garden Indigo. He is the school's most handsome and coolest gentleman.

Ayaka Suwa as Otto Motō, who is Roman's classmate and in the same grade as Sōgo. Otto's family have served as the stewards to the Valoff family for generations, and so Otto is always seen together with Roman.

Inori Minase as Mo Litika Sheshes Ura, a mysterious creature Sōgo meets. It seems as though its whole body is made of Giftjium. Nicknamed Mōra.

Project Felia is credited with the original work. Yasuhito Kikuchi (Infinite Stratos, Macross Frontier) is directing the series at studio 8-Bit. Yuuichi Nomura (Eureka Seven, Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Gundam Seed) is in charge of the original plan, series composition, and script. Atsushi Nakayama (Absolute Duo) is the series director, Yûichi Takahashi (Gatchaman Crowds, Macross Frontier) is the character designer and chief animation director, Takayuki Yanase (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Valvrave the Liberator) is the mechanical designer, and Tatsuya Katou (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, Medaka Box, Gingitsune) is composing the music.

The group fhána will perform the opening theme song, and voice actress Ayaka Ōhashi will perform the ending theme song. fhána and TRUE (Buddy Complex, Sound! Euphonium) are both performing image songs: "Cosmos no yō ni" and "Story of Lucifer," respectively.
