Documentary screens in U.S. on same day as Japan on October 31

Distribution company Live Viewing Japan announced on Tuesday that the WE ARE Perfume -WORLD TOUR 3rd DOCUMENT documentary will screen at the Anthology Film Archives in New York, and at the Downtown Independent in Los Angeles. The documentary will premiere on October 31 at 12:00 p.m. in New York, and at 3:00 p.m. in Los Angeles.

After its U.S. opening, the movie will also open in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mexico on as-yet unspecified dates. There are also plans to release the film in South America and Europe.

The film will also play at this year's Tokyo International Film Festival as part of its Panorama Section. Perfume will appear at the film festival during an opening-day red carpet event on October 22. The Tokyo International Film Festival will run from October 22 to 31.

The documentary's official website also began streaming a trailer for the documentary earlier this month. The trailer previews the group's upcoming October 28 single "Star Train," which serves as the theme song for the film.

Live Viewing Japan describes the documentary:

This documentary follows Perfume on a two-month international live tour, "Perfume WORLD TOUR 3rd.” While travelling around the globe to cities across Asia, Europe, and the United States, audiences will see Perfume's powerful live performances and catch never before seen behind-the-scenes footage. Witness the group's single-minded approach to their performances - the joy, anguish, and struggles, not only in the music, but also in fashion and pop culture. By witnessing the girls' ongoing current activities fans will glimpse Perfume's achievements and their goals for the future. This is Perfume's nonstop evolution. Their "now" is here.

During several insightful interviews, the members "Dame Dashi" will be revealed in which they reflect on improving for upcoming shows. The source of their passion for performing live will also be revealed. In between their tight schedules the members are depicted enjoying some leisure time - from their excitement in Singapore's giant Merlion, to exploring New York's Times Square, fans will witness their life-sized reactions. In addition, each member also talks about the world tour, the group's formation, and a look back on their successful career to-date. These exclusive interviews can only be seen in the movie.

Perfume is a technopop group that formed in 2000, and consists of the members Yuka Kashino (Kashiyuka), Ayaka Nishikawa (A~chan), and Ayano Ōmoto (NOCCHi). The group released their latest album Level3 in October 2013, which debuted in the number one spot in the Oricon's weekly album ranking chart. The album sold 165,748 copies in its first week. The group provided the theme song "Mirai no Museum" (Museum of the Future) for the 2013 Doraemon film, Doraemon: Nobita no Himitsu Dōgu Museum. Perfume also provided the ending theme song "Hurly Burly" to Hiroyasu Ishida's "Fastening Days" anime short.

Taketoshi Sawatari is producing the documentary from footage shot during the group's "WORLD TOUR 3rd" tour, where the group performed in Taiwan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the group's first concerts in the United States. The documentary will also include footage from the group's performance at SXSW 2015 in Austin, Texas in March.
