posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
"Saikō no Present Desu" OVA ships with 9th BD/DVD volume on December 24

The official YouTube channel for the Kuroko's Basketball anime franchise began streaming a promotional video on Friday for the "75.5th Quarter" OVA episode. The episode is titled "Saikō no Present Desu" (It's the Best Present).

The OVA episode will be included with the limited edition of the ninth and final DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the 3rd season of the Kuroko's Basketball television anime series. Aside from the OVA episode, it will also include the 74th and 75th episodes, a special audio drama starring the character Seijūrō Akashi, three end cards, liner notes, and the "Kuroko's Basketball NG Collection." The limited edition Blu-ray Disc will ship on December 24 for 6,800 yen (about US$55), and the DVD will retail for 5,800 yen (US$47).

Weekly Shonen Jump magazine describes the plot of the extra episode as follows:

A few weeks after the Winter Cup, the five players of the Generation of Miracles as well as Kuroko have settled back into everyday life. But an invitation from Momoi arrives, proposing that the former Teikō Junior High players gather once again and play a game. Kuroko happily accepts the unexpected invitation. But Kagami is bothered when he learns about the game, because on that day, the Seirin High team were planning a birthday party for Kuroko! However, Kagami tells Kuroko that the birthday party won't be until the evening, which makes him glad. So on January 31st, Kuroko's best day begins!

The third season premiered in Japan on January 10, and Daisuki streamed the series as it aired outside of Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the series two weeks after its Japanese broadcast date. The 75th and final episode premiered in Japan on June 27.
