posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
"Ocean adventure" manga about boy who time travels to 1804 debuts on November 24

The December issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka shōjo magazine revealed on Saturday that Hajime Segawa will launch a new manga series titled Yūreisen Chronicle (Ghost Ship Chronicle) in the magazine's next issue, which Kadokawa will publish on November 24. The manga's first chapter will include color pages. The magazine notes that this will be Segawa's first manga in a shōjo magazine.

The magazine teases the manga:

An ocean action-adventure story where Noboru Tokisaka, a high school student who has traveled through time to the year 1804, encounters the phenomenon research ship Red Queen.

Segawa launched his Ga-Rei supernatural manga in Kadokawa's Shōnen Ace magazine in 2005, and ended it in 2010. He launched his Tokyo ESP manga in Shōnen Ace in 2010. Kadokawa will publish the manga's 14th compiled book volume on Monday. Vertical is releasing the manga in English, and it published the first volume on October 6.

Both Ga-Rei and Tokyo ESP have inspired anime adaptations. The Ga-Rei: Zero prequel television anime series premiered in 2008. FUNimation Entertainment released the series in DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2011. The Tokyo ESP anime series premiered in July 2014. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.
