Collider: 24th Power Rangers Season Will be Netflix Exclusive

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Show will reportedly be based on Shuriken Sentai Nin'ninger series

Film news website Collider reported last Saturday that the 24th season of the Power Rangers series will debut in 2017 as a Netflix exclusive title, and will be based on Toei's Shuriken Sentai Nin'ninger series. The site stated that the show will reportedly be titled Power Rangers Shuriken.

Power Rangers Dino Charge, the current 22nd season of the Power Rangers franchise, is currently airing on Nickelodeon. The series is based on Toei's Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger series. Saban Brands' agreements with Nickolodeon and Bandai America will continue until 2016.

The Shuriken Sentai Nin'ninger special-effects series premiered in February, and marks the 40th anniversary of Toei's Super Sentai franchise. The story takes place after The Last Ninjer sealed away all the yōkai in the world. This lasted until The Last Ninjer's death, when the yōkai returned. His descendants, five cousins, battle the yōkai as the Nin'ninger.

A Power Rangers film is slated for January 13, 2017. Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is on board to direct the film. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the Power Rangers script. The two writers previously wrote the X-Men: First Class and Thor films. Saban Brands' Brian Casentini and Lionsgate's Allison Shearmur are producing the film.

The film project previously cast Becky Gomez as the Yellow Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, and R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger.
