Koei Tecmo Issues Statement on Dead or Alive Xtreme 3

Earlier Facebook comments "reflect that individual's opinion"

Koei Tecmo Games published an official statement regarding the comments made by the Team Ninja community manager about Koei Tecmo's decision to publish Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 exclusively in Asia.

The statement reads:

The comments recently made by an employee regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page only reflect that individual's opinion and not the opinion or business strategy of Koei Tecmo Games.

We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategizing to support the different global audiences the Dead or Alive franchise lends itself to.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 remains in development and is still planned for release in Japan and Asia only.

The Team Ninja community manager implied in a Facebook post in November that the decision to not publish Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in the west was due to "many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry."

Koei Tecmo Europe responded to the situation by saying, "Kudos to the [Team Ninja's Community Manager] for being honest," but later clarified, "We said the [Community Manager] was honest to confirm that isn't coming to the west. We don't approve that he put the blame on anyone."

When Koei Tecmo Games first announced the game in August, the company specified that the game would be exclusive to Japan and Asia. The Asian release will have an English-language option.

The game will ship for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan on February 25.

Tecmo released the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball game on the Xbox in North America, Japan, and Europe in 2003. In the game, players play as one of the women from the Dead or Alive fighting game series and partake in volleyball matches as well as other beach-related minigames and shopping. Tecmo released a sequel, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, on the Xbox 360 in North America, Japan, and Europe in 2006.
