Comet Lucifer Spinoff Flash Anime Short's 9th Episode Explains the Altar of Abyss

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
10th episode of spinoff anime to be included in 5th BD volume on May 27

Bandai Visual began streaming the ninth episode of the Comet Lucifer television anime's spinoff SD Flash anime "Garden Indigo no Shasō Kara" (From Garden Indigo's Window) on Sunday. The episode features the characters Sōgo Amagi, Moura, and Felia discussing the Altar of Abyss. Moura quizzes Sōgo and Felia about the nature of the Altar of Abyss, giving them three choices: 1. A fountain from where life springs forth in Gift, 2. A device that will destroy Gift, 3. A warp device. Felia tells Sōgo that it isn't 2. and 3., so Sōgo correctly answers that it is 1. The short elaborates that Felia, as an embodiment of the planet Gift, is an embodiment of all life on the planet itself. If Felia keeps using the power without being supplemented by the Altar of Abyss, she will soon disappear, and the planet of Gift will wither away with her disappearance. Felia and Sōgo then eat some curry, which is so delicious it makes them both cry.

This episode will be a bonus extra on the fifth Comet Lucifer Blu-ray Disc volume along with a Blu-ray exclusive episode 10 on May 27. Episode 1 will be available along with the Blu-ray-exclusive episode 2 in the anime's first Blu-ray Disc volume on January 29. Episode 3 will be available with the Blu-ray exclusive episode 4 in the second volume on February 24. Episode 5 will be available with the Blu-ray exclusive episode 6 in the third volume on March 24. Episode 7 will be available with the Blu-ray exclusive episode 8 in the fourth volume on April 22. Bandai Visual streamed the SD short's first and third episodes in October, and streamed the fifth and seventh episodes in November.

The main TV anime series premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX on October 4. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.

The story takes place on the planet Gift, where precious crystals called Giftjium are buried in the earth. A young man named Sōgo lives in Garden Indigo, a prosperous mining town. Sōgo's hobby is to collect rare crystals. One day, he gets wrapped up in a riot caused by his classmates Kaon, Roman, and Otto, and he loses his way until he finds a lake deep under the ground's mining ruins. There, he meets a mysterious girl with blue hair and red eyes that gaze straight ahead. The story follows the adventure of what happens after this meeting.
