Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Reveals 2016's Series Ranking for Female Readers

The 2016 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook announced its lists of the top manga series on Thursday. The top 20 on its list of manga for female readers are:

  1. Otaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (pictured bottom right in image at right) by Fujita
  2. Tokyo Tarareba Musume by Akiko Higashimura
  3. Machida-kun no Sekai by Yuki Andō
  4. Shiota-sensei to Amai-chan by Kumiko Nakatoka
  5. Sora wo Kakeru Yodaka by Shiki Kawabata
  6. Aizawa Riku by Yoriko Hoshi
  7. ODETTE by Haru Hiate (tied for sixth)
  8. Onna no Yūjō to Kinniku by KANA
  9. Shinsōban Oyanarumono Dangai by Fumiko Sone
  10. Princess Maison by Aoi Ikebe
  11. Takane to Hana by Yuki Shiwasu
  12. Kōdai-ke no Hitobito by Kozueko Morimoto
  13. Mahō Jika Hatsuden by Kazuno Tani (tied for 12th)
  14. Sayonara Girlfriend by Suzume Takano
  15. Ōoku: The Inner Chambers by Fumi Yoshinaga
  16. Jigoku no Girlfriend by Akane Torikai
  17. Awajima Hyakkei by Takako Shimura
  18. Kakukaku Shikajika by Akiko Higashimura
  19. Kainushi Jūjin to Petto Joshi Kōsei by Tsuzura Yakan
  20. Ohayō, Ibara-hime by Mei Morino

The lists are the result of surveys conducted among more than 400 professionals in the fields of manga and publishing.

Otaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii ranked at #48 on Da Vinci magazine's comic rankings as part of its 16th annual "Book of the Year" list. Tokyo Tarareba-jō ranked at #27. Machida-kun no Sekai recently won a New Face Award in the Japanese government's Ministry of Cultural Affairs' 19th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards.

In 2015, Yoshitoki Ōima's A Silent Voice manga topped the Male Readers list, and Tomomi Abe's Chi-chan wa Chotto Tarinai (Chi-chan Isn't Quite Good Enough) topped the Female Readers list. In 2014, Yūsei Matsui's Assassination Classroom manga topped the Male Readers list, and Hozumi's Sayonara Sorcier topped the Female Readers list.
