The official website for the musical adaptation of Sanrio's Show By Rock!! rhythm game revealed on Friday the musical's main visual (pictured right) and the cast of the show.

The Show By Rock!! Musical ~Tonaeru Kachikudomo! Crimson Falldown Revolution Apocalypse~ play will run at the Zepp Blue Theater Roppongi in Tokyo from February 11-16, and it will host a total of 10 performances. The musical will have an original story featuring the franchise's Shingan Crimsonz four-member visual kei band as the main characters.

The revealed cast includes:

Shingan Crimsonz (clockwise, from top)

  • Eiji Takigawa as Rom
  • Yuki Torigoe as Yaiba
  • Kosuke Yonehara as Crow
  • Teruma as Aion

Trichronika (from left to right)

  • Shohei Hashimoto as Riku
  • Ryo Mitsuya as Shu☆Zo
  • Koichi Tsukioka as Kai

Anime scriptwriter Touko Machida wrote the original story for the play, and Saburō Fukushima wrote the script and is also directing the play. The play's story centers on the Shingan Crimsonz band and their music label BRR (Banded Rocking Records). BRR's president, Maple Arisugawa, has put his company in sizable debt. To pay it off, Shingan Crimsonz enters the "King of MIDI CITY Live Festival," a battle of the bands where they aim to get the grand prize money. But standing in their way is the famous Trichronika band. The Shingan Crimsonz members undergo a difficult training camp together. Elsewhere, a mysterious man gets close to Trichronika's charismatic vocalist, Shu☆Zo.

Sanrio began distributing the game developed by geechs for iOS and Android in 2012. The game is free to play, but has in-game items that can be purchased.

Sanrio previously described the story of the original game as follows:

Metropolis of music, MIDICITY. A kitty girl wearing gothic lolita clothing named Cyan is scouted by Maple Arisugawa, the president of a music agency. From there, she meets Chuchu (a pun off of the sound that rabbits make) the honor student rabbit girl, a net geek dog girl named Retoree (from "Retriever"), and an alien sheep (?) girl named Moa. Together, they form the band named "Plasmagica," and aim for the top of the world.

However, the path there is long and tough, and keeping in high spirits is important. By battling against other strange bands, Plasmagica slowly grows toward a top-grade band. In the end, they'll be a band that becomes the driving force of MIDICITY's music industry... Maybe?

Gonna be a music millionaire!

The game inspired a 12-episode television anime series last April, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired with both English subtitles and an English dub. A sequel anime is planned, with a premiere date of April 2016 briefly listed.
