World Trigger: Smash Borders Smartphone Game Heads to PS Vita

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Game debuted on iOS, Android devices last July

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on Thursday that it will port its World Trigger: Smash Borders smartphone game to the PlayStation Vita. Bandai Namco Entertainment added that the game will be available on the PS Vita "soon."

The PS Vita version will have all the characters and missions available on the smartphone game version as of the time of the announcement, and will have the same gameplay. The game will not allow players to carry over data from the smartphone version.

Bandai Namco Entertainment originally released the "aim and hit smash action" game on iOS and Android devices last July. In the game, players control a team of Trion soldiers to carry out defense missions from the Borders headquarters to repel Neighbor invasions. Players take aim at the Neighbors and shoot them to blow them away like playing billiards. If players can link attacks between members of a team, they can deal much more damage.

Daisuke Ashihara's World Trigger manga debuted in 2013's 11th issue of Japan's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Viz Media added the series to its digital anthology version of Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2013, and the company also publishes the manga in print. A 48-episode television anime adaptation premiered in October 2014, and the second season premiered last October. Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan, and is also streaming the new season.

The manga also inspired the fighting game World Trigger: Borderless Mission for the PlayStation Vita, which shipped in Japan last September.
