Final Fantasy Adventure remake launched for iOS, Android on Thursday

Square Enix responded on its official blog on Friday to requests for a PlayStation Vita release of its Adventures of Mana game in the West. The game's development team issued a message:

Thank you for all of your comments on a PS Vita edition of Adventures of Mana.

We've been listening to your feedback and because of your passion for the game, we're going to look into making a PS Vita version of Adventures of Mana for the west. We can't guarantee we'll be able to make this happen but we will see what we can do.

We'll let you know if we have any news, so watch out for future updates and thank you for your support.

Square Enix released the English version of its remake of the Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu -Final Fantasy Gaiden-) action role-playing game for iOS and Android devices on Thursday. The game's Japanese version launched on the same day for the PlayStation Vita as well as iOS and Android devices.

Square Enix began streaming English and Japanese trailers for the game on Sunday:

The English website's tagline reads, "Relieve the excitement of Final Fantasy Adventure—a timeless classic remastered for a new generation." The remake will feature the story and main characters from the original game such as Hero, Heroine, Shadow Night, Bogard, and Chocobo. The website also describes the game's story:

Enshrined atop Mt. Illusia, high above the lofty clouds, stands the Tree of Mana. Drawing its life energy from the boundless celestial aether, the sentinel grows in silence. Legend holds that he who lays his hands upon its trunk will be granted power eternal — a power that the Dark Lord of Glaive now seeks to further fuel his bloody quest for domination.
Our unlikely hero is one of countless gladiators indentured to the Duchy of Glaive. Each day, he and his ill-fated companions are dragged from their cells and bade to fight exotic beasts for the amusement of the Dark Lord. if victorious, they are thrown back into the dungeons with just enough bread to tide them over until their next match. But a body can only take so much, and it is never long before the weary captives succumb to their cruel fates.

Game developer Square (now Square Enix) released the original Final Fantasy Adventure for Game Boy in 1991. The game was the first in the Mana series.

Square Enix had announced last June that "production on a [new] Seiken Densetsu -Final Fantasy Gaiden- had been green-lit. Sony's website for Tokyo Game Show 2015 then listed Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu -Final Fantasy Gaiden-) for PS Vita.
