"Super Mario Bros. Z" features characters, sprites from Nintendo games

Creator crowdfunding platform Patreon removed the page for Alvin-Earthworm's "Super Mario Bros. Z" animation project after receiving a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notice from Nintendo.

The animations feature characters and sprites from the Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. and Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchises, and also parodies Dragon Ball Z. Alvin-Earthworm, also known as Mark Haynes, began the series in 2006. He posted the first episode of a reboot of the series this year after opening the Patreon in September. The episode is still streaming on YouTube.

Haynes launched a new Patreon page Tuesday for work on unspecified digital art and animation work. He is still working on the series.
