Funimation announced on Thursday that it is working with its Group 1200 sister company GameSamba, the Chinese game developer NGames Interactive, and the Japanese publisher Kodansha on a mobile game based on the Fairy Tail manga and anime franchise. The companies plan to release the game on Android and iOS devices in multiple languages worldwide by the end of this year.
Funimation describes the game:
The game will be a mobile RPG featuring a new side story that draws from the sequel series of the anime. Players will recruit and battle against their favorite characters from “Fairy Tail,” in order to form the most powerful team of wizards.
This mobile game is separate from the previously announced web-based, free-to-play Fairy Tail MMORPG that GameSamba, Funimation, and NGames Interactive are also planning. The three companies announced their strategic partnership to create mobile and web games in January, and they are also collaborating on a Tokyo Ghoul mobile game.
