Singaporean film distributor Odex and Malaysian cinema chain Golden Screen Cinemas began streaming an English-subtitled trailer last month for the Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova Cadenza (Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova Cadenza) film, which reveals that the film will open in Malaysia on March 31.
Odex describes the film:
Protagonist Gunzo Chihaya and his friends, with the help of renegade Fog A.Is, head towards the United States to present blueprints for a weapon that will turn the tides of war in humanity's favour. It is easier said than done because Gunzo and the rest of Arpeggio's crew have gotten the attention of the mysterious Admirality Code. Now they must face a new Fleet of Fog threat known as “Fog Student Council,” who are mental models dressed like high school girls. The Fog Student Council preaches that Earth's morals must correspond to the Fog's morals.
The film opened on 60 screens in Japan last October, ranking at #7 and earning 67,525,150 yen (about US$560,560) in its first weekend.
The Arpeggio of Blue Steel (Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio) film projects reunite the cast and staff from the 2013 television anime series. Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova DC is a compilation of the 2013 television anime series with new story sequences, while Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova Cadenza is an entirely brand-new work.
New characters for the second film include:
In Ark Performance's original science-fiction naval manga, humanity lost much of its developed land due to global warming in the first half of the 21st century. Then, a "Fleet of Fog" loaded with super weapons suddenly appears all over the world. Without the ability to withstand this fleet, humanity was defeated and could no longer travel the seas. 17 years after the devastating naval war, Gunzō Chihaya and his crewmates somehow commandeer a "Fleet of Fog" submarine named I-401. Together with Iona (I-401's "mental model" or incarnation in humanoid form), they take on the "Fleet of Fog."
