Fairy Tail Manga Gets New Mavis Original Anime DVD

"Yōsei-tachi no Batsu Game" anime DVD also slated for May 17

Retailers are listing Hiro Mashima's 56th Fairy Tail manga volume in a limited-edition bundle with a new original anime DVD on July 15. The "Natsu vs. Mavis" anime centers on Mavis, who is feeling downcast. The guild members, starting with Natsu and Erza, try to make her feel better.

In addition, the 55th manga volume is listed with a limited-edition bundle containing the previously announced adaptation of the "Yōsei-tachi no Batsu Game" (Fairy Penalty Game) one-shot manga spinoff. The volume is listed for release on May 17.

The manga follows the adventures of world's most notorious mage guild, Fairy Tail. It already inspired two television anime, several previous original video anime projects, and spinoff manga. The franchise's first anime film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess, opened in Japan on August 18, 2012, and Mashima announced a second film last May.

Del Rey published the first 12 volumes of the original manga in North America, and Kodansha resumed publishing the manga in English with the 13th volume in 2011. Crunchyroll streams the ongoing television anime into several countries as it airs in Japan, and Funimation has been releasing DVD/Blu-ray sets.
