Eiichiro Oda Supervises Line Art For One Piece Film Gold Video

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Video promotes TOHO CINEMAS; will begin appearing in theaters on Saturday

The official website of the upcoming One Piece Film Gold anime film began streaming a special video on Friday. The video, which features line art supervised by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, promotes TOHO CINEMAS, and features the previously shown "black leather" outfits of the characters in the film.

The video will begin playing in TOHO theaters on Saturday.

Oda is serving as the film's executive producer as well as being credited with the original work. Oda also served as the executive producer for the previous film in the franchise, One Piece Film Z.

Hiroaki Miyamoto (One Piece episodes 352-679, assistant director for One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island) is directing the film, and Tsutomu Kuroiwa (live-action Black Butler film, live-action Liar Game: The Final Stage film, live-action The Perfect Insider TV series) is writing the script.

One Piece Film Gold will open in Japan on July 23.

A One Piece film opened every year in Japan between 2000-2009. Since then, aside from One Piece Film Z, (which opened in December 2012) and the 30-minute One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase film in 2011, Fuji TV has aired numerous long specials, such as One Piece Episode of Luffy: Hand Island no Bōken, One Piece Episode of Nami: Kōkaishi no Namida to Nakama no Kizuna, One Piece Episode of Merry: Mō Hitori no Nakama no Monogatari, One Piece "3D2Y" Ace no Shi wo Koete! Luffy Nakama to no Chikai, and One Piece Episode of Sabo. A new two-hour special titled One Piece ~Adventure of Nevlandia~ aired last December.
