New releases from Animatsu

On Monday March 14, Animatsu will release the first twelve episodes of the series Golden Time on both Blu-ray and DVD. The school romantic comedy of Golden Time revolves around Banri Tada, a college student who lost all of his memories before his high school graduation. The story follows Banri, Kōko Kaga (a girl whose seemingly perfect looks belies her hidden regrets), Kōko's significant other Mitsuo Yanagisawa, and other students at Banri's college in Tokyo.

Animatsu is also releasing Garm Wars: The Last Druid, a fantasy with live actors and extensive CG effects directed by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers, Avalon). Made in Canada with an English-speaking cast, the film's cast includes Melanie St-Pierre, Lance Henriksen (seen in Aliens, and Kevin Durand. The synopsis is as follows:

Taking place in a world of war known as Annwn, Garm Wars sets the scene with clone soldiers from 3 military tribes, in a bloody and perpetual battle of air, land and technology. One clone, Khara, finds herself separated from battle and on the run with unlikely companions. In seeking to know more about their joint existence, the fugitives instead find an unrelenting truth and the greatest battle of their lives.

Oshii first developed the film over 15 years ago, just after finishing the first Ghost in the Shell film at Production I.G in 1995.
