NHK World, Tokyo MX, and Chukyo TV announced on Thursday that they are producing a short anime series titled CoCO & NiCO. The series will have 39 episodes, with each episode lasting 60 seconds. The series will premiere on NHK World on April 8, and on Tokyo MX on April 9. The Chukyo TV premiere is listed as April. The NHK World broadcast will have English subtitles.

The anime will center on Coco and Nico, two cats who need to take lessons to become princesses. Because Coco and Nico are prone to pranks, a cat named Oppenheimer watches over them every day. Kaoru Katai will voice Coco, while Natsumi Sugita will voice Nico. Ayana Taketatsu will voice Oppenheimer.

Kyō Yatate (Sockie's Frontier Quest) is directing the anime at Kachidoki Studio. Hiroshi Izawa (Jikū Bōken Nūmamonjaa, Digimon V-Tamer) is writing the script, Akemi Takada (Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Urusei Yatsura, Mobile Police Patlabor) is designing the characters, Shizuka Gotō is in charge of the backgrounds, and Assemble Heart is credited for sound production.

MMDGP, NHK subsidiary Japan International Broadcasting TV, Tokyo MX, Futaba, and Sony Music are co-producing the anime.
