Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge Anime Reveals 2 TV Ads, Spinoff Anime Shorts

Shorts with irregular stream schedule will feature characters in chibi form

Bandai Visual began streaming two commercials on Thursday for the television anime adaptation of Nozomi Uda's Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge (Tanaka is Always Listless) manga. The videos feature the opening theme song "Utatane Sunshine" by Unlimited tone.

Additionally, the official website for the anime announced last Sunday that the anime's official Twitter account will stream a short anime spinoff titled "Tanaka-kun wa Kyō mo Kedaruge" (Tanaka is Listless Today Too). The shorts will feature the main characters in chibi form, and will begin "in a few days." The shorts will stream with an irregular schedule.

The Cine Libre Ikebukuro theater will screen new episodes of the anime weekly, beginning on April 9, during the anime's premiere. The event is titled "Tanaka-kun wa Eigakan demo Kedaruge" (Tanak is Even Listless in the Theater). Tickets are priced at 500 yen (about US$4) every week, and will have character designer Haruko Iizuka in attendance to offer exclusive event art and reproduction mini-colored paper. The staff unveiled the event's visual (seen right).

The anime's cast includes:

Shinya Kawamo (.hack//GIFT, Kokoro Connect, Non Non Biyori) will direct the anime at SILVER LINK, and Akemi Omode (Getbackers, Kyo kara Maoh!, Tales of the Abyss) will oversee the scripts. Haruko Iizuka (Umi Monogatari, Ōkami-san & Her Seven Companions, Little Busters!) will design the characters for animation, while Kusanagi will provide the art direction. Hiromi Mizutani (Sunday Without God, Non Non Biyori, Shomin Sample) will compose the music. Singer/songwriter CooRie will perform the anime's ending theme song "BON-BON."

The youth comedy manga follows the ever-listless Tanaka and his taciturn classmate Ohta, who can't leave Tanaka alone.

Uda launched the series on the Gangan Online website in 2013, and Square Enix published the manga's fifth compiled volume last November. The sixth volume will ship in April. The manga has more than 1 million copies in print.
