Titan Comics Announces New Robotech Comic Series

posted on by Karen Ressler
Comics slated for early 2017

Titan Comics announced on Friday that is has partnered with Harmony Gold USA to publish new comics based on Robotech. The series is slated for 2017, and Titan Comics will reveal the comic's staff in upcoming weeks.

Robotech was Harmony Gold's edited and rewritten 1985 adaptation of three separate anime science-fiction series: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada.

Robotech has received a number of US comic adaptations. DC Comics published the 1984 comic Robotech Defenders, tied to Revell's model kits and predating the television show, and since the show's premiere various other publishers have released Robotech adaptations and spinoffs. In 2013, Dynamic Entertainment sublicensed the rights to the Robotech comics from DC Entertainment and Harmony Gold USA to publish a Robotech and Voltron crossover comic in 2013.

The Robotech television series is streaming on Crackle. The Hollywood Reporter reported last June that James Wan had signed on to direct Sony's planned live-action Robotech film.
