Rewrite+ Visual Novel's 2nd Promo Previews Story Scenes

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
"Selene" music arrangement album included with July 29 game also previewed

Visual novel publisher's VisualArt's Key brand (Visual Art's/Key) began streaming the second promotional video on Friday for Rewrite+, the updated version of its Rewrite visual novel. The video shows some of the scenes from the game, and features the game's opening theme "Philosophyz" by Runa Mizutani.

In addition, Visual Art's is also streaming a preview video for the "Selene" music arrangement CD album included with the game.

Key will release the game in Japan on July 29 for the PC. The new game will include improvements and revisions to the game's scenario, with more sound effects added. The game will also include additional illustrations that weren't in the original game. Additionally, the game will include the "Rewrite Harvest festa!" fandisc. The game retails for 8,800 yen (about US$81) and will include the "Selene" arrangement CD, a radio show, and a Weiβ Schwarz original promotion card.

VisualArt's plans to release Rewrite+ in English.

The original 2011 Rewrite visual novel takes place in Kazamatsuri, a fictional city where civilization and greenery co-exist. Within it, players assume the role of student Kotaro Tennoji and interact with his fellow classmates Kotori Kanbe, Chihaya Ohtori, Akane Senri, Sizuru Nakatsu, and Lucia Konohana.

Itaru Hinoue (AIR, Kanon, CLANNAD) served as the game's project creator and main illustrator. Romeo Tanaka, Ryukishi07 (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni) and Yūto Tonokawa (Little Busters!) wrote the game's storyline scenarios. Jun Maeda (AIR, CLANNAD, Angel Beats!) was involved with the musical compositions and quality control.

The Rewrite Harvest festa! fan disc, written by the game's original team of Tanaka, Ryukishi07, and Tonokawa, featured various additional stories involving the heroines of the original game, and both were illustrated by Key artist Itaru Hinoue. The original game was also ported to the PSP and PS Vita systems in 2014, followed by a PlayStation 3 version in February 2015.

The original game is inspiring a television anime series that premieres on July 2. The anime will feature the same voice cast as the game, and will portray a "sixth" route left untold in the game, which will tell the story of "that girl."
