Frontwing's Corona Blossom Visual Novel Indiegogo Campaign Meets Goal

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Campaign ends on July 1

Visual novel developer Frontwing's Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for its Corona Blossom PC visual novel met its US$30,000 goal on Sunday. As of press time, the campaign has raised US$31,762 from 548 backers. The campaign will end on July 1.

Frontwing previously streamed the game's opening movie, featuring the song "Happy! Corona Blossom" written and performed by Halko Momoi.

Frontwing describes the game:

Meet Keiji Osaki: a young man who hates dealing with machines, despite being very skilled at working with them. That's just the kind of guy he is.

After failing his college entrance exams, he begins helping out at his grandfather's workshop, which specializes in repairing VORKS, heavy-duty industrial robots. For a while, he enjoyed a quiet life in the countryside, doted on by the workshop's regular patrons.

One day, however, his life suddenly takes a turn for the strange, when he encounters a metallic lifeform attached to a meteorite that fell from the sky.

To make things even more complicated, the organism he rescues takes the form of a forgotten girl from his past. This is how his life with the metallic organism known as R-ne begins. But after a while, R-ne learns how to speak, and tells Keiji that she wants to go back to her home planet. Moved by her words, he sets his mind on sending her back into space, no matter what.

This may prove difficult, though, when a female space pirate - also known as a rare metal hunter - appears out of nowhere, and gets in his way.

Caught up in this whirlwind, will Keiji and his friends be able to send R-ne safely back to her homeland?

The all-ages version of the game is slated for release on the PC via Steam on July 29 for US$10. Frontwing will offer a patch for the game that will remove censorship and adult scenes at the same time as the game's launch for an additional US$10. The physical copy of the game will include the adult content, and will be available in select stores in Japan, as well as a reward for backers of the Indiegogo campaign. All versions of the game will include both English and Japanese text, with Japanese audio. Frontwing's in-house translation team worked on the game's translation.

Aside from a key for the game on Steam, other backer rewards include a bundle with the adult content patch, the digital soundtrack, a physical copy of the game, a shikishi art board, artbook, the backer's name in the game's credits, tapestries, happi coats, hoodies, 3D mouse pads, and a unique shikishi portraying a character of the backer's choice, drawn by character designer Nanaca Mai.

The cast includes:

Scenario writer Yuhi Nanao (From the Future Undying) is working on the game alongside character designer Nanaca Mai (Grisaia series SD art). The pair last worked together on Frontwing's Yukikoi Melt game.

Frontwing is currently planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign to localize and release AKABEi SOFT2's visual novel Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shōjo under the title Wheel Country, Sunflower Girl.
