Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage Single Sets Franchise Record

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Sells 89,000 to top weekly chart; 2nd character single after K-ON! to rank #1

"THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS STARLIGHT MASTER 03 Hi-Fi Days" single topped the Oricon weekly single chart for the June 20-26 week, selling 89,000 copies in its first week. The single shipped on June 22.

The single is the fourth single in The IDOLM@STER franchise to reach the top 3 of the Oricon weekly single chart. Last September's "THE IDOLM@STER LIVE THE@TER DREAMERS 01 Dreaming!" single, which sold 67,000 copies in its first week, is the first single in The IDOLM@STER franchise to accomplish this feat by selling 67,000 copies. However, "THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS STARLIGHT MASTER 03 Hi-Fi Days" has now surpassed the earlier single to become the highest-selling single in the franchise's history.

The single is also the second single by voice cast members under their characters' names to rank #1 on the weekly chart, after "GO! GO! MANIAC" single from K-ON!'s Hōkago Tea Time group in April 2010. While the Love Live! The School Idol Movie's "Boku-tachi wa Hitotsu no Hikari"/"Future Style" single sold more last July, it ranked at #2 behind NMB48's "Durian Shōnen" single. Love Live!'s "Moment Ring" single also sold more in March, but similarly ranked #2.

The single's title track "Hi-Fi Days" debuted in The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage smartphone game. Chie Sasaki, Momoka Sakurai, Nina Ichihara, Kaoru Ryuzaki, and Miria Akagi performed the song as their respective characters. The B-side tracks include "SUPERLOVE" by Nozomi Yamamoto (Rika Jōgasaki) and "NUDIE" by Haruka Yoshimura (Mika Jōgasaki). The single also includes a karaoke version and game version of the title song.
