posted on by Andrew Osmond
First 13 episodes of P.A. Works mecha series now available

"Season 1" (the first 13 episodes) of the Kuromukuro anime series is now available on the U.K. Netflix site here.

P.A. Works, which made the series, has described it as follows:

During the construction of the Kurobe Dam, an ancient artifact is discovered. With this discovery, the United Nations Kurobe Laboratory is established at Kurobe dam and at this institute, intellectuals from all over the world are gathered to research the artifact. The children of these researchers, including the institute head's daughter, Yukina Shirahane, attend Tateyama International Senior High School.

One day, unidentified invaders fall from the sky and commence invasion. Yukina is attacked by one of the invaders but is saved by a mysterious man who has come out of the artifact, Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma.

The anime will have a total of 26 episodes, and is the 15th anniversary project of P.A. Works. Pony Canyon previously streamed a promotional video for the series.

The anime takes place in Toyama Prefecture (the location of P.A. Works' studio), and will feature the TATE mountain range in the prefecture as well as other famous locales. The robot research institution in the show will be located near Toyama Prefecture's famous Kurobe Dam.

Snow Grouse is credited with the original work. Tensai Okamura (Darker than Black, Blue Exorcist, Wolf’s Rain, The Seven Deadly Sins) is directing the "mecha action" anime at P.A. Works. Ryō Higaki (Another, Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit) is handling the series composition, and Yuriko Ishii (Another, A Lull in the Sea) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director with Ayumi Nishibata. Tomoaki Okada (Darker than Black, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Star Driver, Wolf’s Rain) is credited with visual concepts and mecha designs. Hiroaki Tsutsumi is composing the music at Pony Canyon.
