3rd film gets encore screening in September, franchise gets live Christmas event again in December

The staff of the PriPara franchise announced at an event on Sunday that there will be new developments in the franchise every month for the next six months, including a new smartphone game, a second Nintendo 3DS game, and a new run of the Live Musical "PriPara" Mi~nna ni Todoke! Prism Voice musical, among other developments.

In August the PriPara PriPuz smartphone game will launch. The official website for the "puzzle life game" is accepting pre-registrations now.

The PriPara Mi~nna no Akogare Let's Go PriPari film, which originally premiered in Japan in March, is getting a new screening at 50 Aeon theaters across Japan on September 3-9, before the film ships on home video on September 30. In October, the original PriPara arcade game is getting a collaboration with "that legendary anime idol," and will reveal more details about the collaboration at a later date.

A second Nintendo 3DS game for the franchise titled PriPara Mezameyo! Megami no Dress Design (Awaken Pripara! The Goddess's Dress Design) will ship in Japan in November. The game is described as a "stylish design and rhythm action" game. The first Nintendo 3DS game, PriPara Mezameyo! Idol Grand Prix No.1!, shipped in Japan last October.

In December the franchise will again host a "Pristmas" live event, titled "Pripara Christmas Dream Live 2016," at the Maihama Ampitheater in Chiba prefecture. Similar events were held in 2014 and 2015. Tickets for the event go on sale on July 23.

In January the Live Musical "PriPara" Mi~nna ni Todoke! Prism Voice musical will have another run at the Zepp Blue Theatre Roppongi in Tokyo. The new run is titled Live Musical "PriPara" Mi~nna ni Todoke! Prism Voice 2017. The first musical ran from February 4-7. The first musical had starred the anime's voice cast. The anime's cast will reprise their roles for the new musical run, and the new run will also include new songs from the anime series. Tetsu Taoshita is again directing the musical, and Fumi Tsubota is writing the script (Taoshita wrote the script for the first run).

The first anime series inspired by SynSophia's PriPara arcade game for girls premiered in July 2014. The franchise's first film, Gekijō-ban PriPara Mi~nna Atsumare! Prism Tours, premiered in March 2015, and the second TV anime season premiered in April 2015. The second anime film, Tobidasu PriPara ~Miina de Mezase! Idol Grand Prix (Spring Out PriPara ~Aim for the Top, Eeeeveryone! Idol Grand Prix), premiered in Japan in October 2015. The anime's third film, PriPara Mi~nna no Akogare Let's Go PriPari (PriPara Eeeeveryone's Longing Let's Go PriPari), premiered on March 12, and the third television anime season followed in April.

The story of the television anime revolves around Laala, an elementary school girl who wants to become an idol in PriPara, a sport that judges girls on their song, dance, and fashion. The invitation to the sport is through a PriPara ticket. Even though elementary school students at her school are not allowed to become PriPara idols, through many events, she passes the audition, and becomes an idol.
