Shakunetsu no Takkyū Musume TV Anime About Girls' Ping Pong Reveals Main Cast

The staff of the television anime adaptation of Yagura Asano's Shakunetsu no Takkyū Musume (Scorching Ping Pong Girls) manga announced the anime's main cast during a Niconico live broadcast on Tuesday. In addition, the broadcast announced that the main six cast members will perform the anime's theme song "Shakunetsu Switch."

The series stars:

  • Yumiri Hanamori (Garakowa -Restore the World-'s Remo) as Koyori Tsumujikaze
  • Minami Tanaka (Wake Up, Girls!'s Minami Katayama) as Akari Kamiya
  • Marika Kōno (Seiyu's Life!'s Rin Kohana) as Hanabi Tenka
  • Yūki Kuwahara (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans' Cookie Griffon) as Hokuto Itsumo
  • Ayaka Imamura (Hundred's Meimei) as Munemune
  • Hisako Tōjō (Noragami Aragoto's Aiha) as Kiruka Ushirode

In addition, comedian Koniwa (Yasumasa Koniwa) appeared during the cast announcement broadcast as a "head cheerleader," doing an impression of retired tennis player Shuzo Matsuoka.

The manga follows middle school students Koyori Tsumuzikaze and Agari Kamiya as they enter the world of girls' middle school ping pong.

Yasuhiro Irie (Kurau: Phantom Memory, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Code:Breaker) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Kaori (Yuyushiki, Bottom Biting Bug) is serving as assistant director. Hideyuki Kurata (Read or Die, Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens, Maria the Virgin Witch) is supervising the series' scripts. Junko Sugimura (Code: Breaker, Yuyushiki, Kumamiko key animation) is designing the characters for animation. Toshiya Kimura (Eureka Seven, Hanasaku Iroha, Yuyushiki) is director of photography at T2 Studio. Aiko Matsuyama (Date A Live, Digimon Adventure tri. Ketsui) is credited for color design, while Masaru Sato (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, ERASED) is credited as art director. MONACA (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Nanana's Buried Treasure, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) is handling the music, with DIVE II Entertainment credited for music production. Fumiyuki Go (MAOYU, Log Horizon, Overlord) is handling sound effects at Studio Mouse, and Hitomi Sudō (Barakamon, Yuyushiki) is editing.

Asano launched the manga on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump web magazine in 2013, and Shueisha published the manga's third compiled book volume on April 4.
