Girl Friend Note Rhythm Game Gets Web Anime in October

Original Girl Friend BETA game received TV anime adaptation in 2014

The official Girl Friend website announced on Tuesday that a web anime based on the 3D rhythm game Girl Friend Note (Girl Friend (♪), read as "onpu") will premiere in October.

In the anime's story, the group "nonet" ends up working on a play with the group "Ōtori" from the Ōtori Song Academy. The play is Cinderella, but with a special twist. Momoko Asahina will play Cinerella, Miyabi Kunishiro will play the prince, and Kokomi Shina will play an unexpected role.

The web anime is part of a three-part summer project. The other parts of will be an election, from August 21 to September 22, and a collaboration event between the Girl Friend BETA and Puella Magi Madoka Magica, from August 11 to August 21. The collaboration will bring the main characters from Madoka Magica into the Girl Friend BETA game. During the campaign period, players will get a Madoka card as a log-in bonus.

Cyber Agent's blogging website Ameba started service for the original Girl Friend BETA dating simulation game for smartphones in 2012, and the number of registered users has passed 6.5 million. The game features more than 100 girls for the player to date, each voiced by a different voice actress. The Girl Friend Note rhythm game launched for smartphones in December 2015.

A television anime adaptation of Girl Friend BETA premiered in October 2014 and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

The Girl Friend BETA: Kimi to Sogosu Natsu Yasumi PlayStation Vita game shipped in November.
