Aniplex USA to Screen 2nd Kizumonogatari Film in U.S. Theaters in October (Updated With Video)

Company also reveals re-release of 2 Fate/Zero boxsets on October 25

Aniplex of America announced at its panel at Otakon on Saturday that it will screen the Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen (Passionate Blood) film in theaters the United States starting in October. Azoland Pictures is distributing the film, and the screening will include a bonus giveaway item for viewers while supplies last. Aniplex of America will sell tickets to the film through its official website for Kizumonogatari. All screenings will be with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Aniplex of America began streaming a trailer for the film on Saturday.

Aniplex of America previously screened the first film, Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu, in the United States in February-March. The company will screen the first film in four theaters in Canada starting on August 28.

The Kizumonogatari film project is a trilogy, and the first film opened in Japan on January 8. The second film (key visual pictured at right) is slated for an August 19 debut in Japan.

Akiyuki Simbo is once again credited as chief director at the anime studio SHAFT. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka are designing the characters. Yota Tsuruoka is directing the sound, and Satoru Kousaki is composing the music. Tatsuya Oishi is the director.

Kizumonogatari is the third volume in NisiOisin's Monogatari book series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. The novel tells the story of how protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him and his journey to return to his normal life. North American publisher Vertical released the novel in English in December.

Aniplex of America also announced on Saturday that it will re-release the two Fate/Zero box sets on October 25. The company previously released the first Blu-ray Disc boxset in March 2012 and the second Blu-ray Disc boxset in September 2012. Those two sets were imports of the Japanese release with English subtitles and a translation booklet. The company then re-released the series in two Blu-ray Disc boxsets that included an English dub in November 2013 and December 2013, respectively. Additionally, Aniplex of America released both seasons of the show on two DVD sets in November 2013 and December 2013, respectively.

Update: Aniplex of America confirmed with ANN that the Fate/Zero boxsets that it is re-releasing are the 2013 boxsets that include the English dub. Also embedded trailer video for Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen film.
