This year's ninth issue of Young Magazine the 3rd revealed on August 6 that the Tiger Mask - Shadow of Justice manga will end in the next issue on September 6.
Yu-Ko Osada began the manga based on Ikki Kajiwara and Naoki Tsuji's original story in October 2015. The story takes place in a not so far off future where a mysterious power called "Unlimit" exists. Heroes defeat criminals in the ring in popular "Justice Shows." One day a hero called Metal Mask rushes to the crime scene of a jewel store heist and discovers a man wearing a tiger mask.
The original "Tiger Mask" is the alter ego of the character Naoto Date, a pro wrestler who goes against an evil wrestling organization and fights for children in an orphanage. The original manga ran from 1968 to 1971 in Kodansha's Bokura magazine, Weekly Shōnen Magazine, and other magazines. Along with the baseball manga Kyojin no Hoshi, Tiger Mask is considered Kajiwara's life work.
The manga already inspired two anime series in 1969-1971 and 1981-1982. The 1969 television anime series recorded 31.9% as its highest rating. Toei Animation is producing a new anime titled Tiger Mask W (pronounced "double") that will premiere this fall, and the anime will have an event on August 17.
