SCREEN mode Performs Bungō Stray Dogs Anime's New Opening Theme

Band streams music video for new song debuting with anime's 2nd half in October

The official website for the band SCREEN mode announced on Saturday that the duo will perform the opening theme song "Reason Living" for the second half of the television anime adaptation of Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa's Bungo Stray Dogs manga.

SCREEN mode previously performed theme songs for the Food Wars! The Second Plate, Kuroko's Basketball's third season, Love Stage!!, Myriad Colors Phantom World, and Gundam Build Fighters Try anime series, among others.

SCREEN mode is also streaming a music video for the short version of the song. The single for "Reason Living" will ship in Japan on October 26.

The anime's second half (starting with the 13th episode) will premiere on Tokyo MX and WOWOW on October 5 at 25:05 (effectively October 6 at 1:05 a.m.).

The anime's staff had announced the show's split-season plans in June. The first 12 episodes aired in April to June, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

The "battle action" story centers around a league of literary figures with supernatural powers. For example, in real life, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa wrote acclaimed stories that inspired Akira Kurosawa's Rashōmon film and the Aoi Bungaku Series anime's Jigoku Hen (Hell Screen) arc. In Bungo Stray Dogs, he has the power to transform and manipulate his cloak into a monster-like entity. Together, these writers solve mysteries as part of the "Armed Detective Agency."

Yen Press announced in July that it had licensed Asagiri and Harukawa's original manga.
